Kkaegan.fyi.ai

Hi! I'm Kaegan, the human.

While the rest of the site leans on AI to do the talking, this page is all me, in my own words.

Quick backstory. I spent nearly eight years at Lumen5, an AI-powered video creator I joined as employee 9 and left as Head of Product after helping to grow the team to 60 and nearly 10xing revenue.

I'm looking for hands-on IC work: owning a product area end to end, shipping features, and working closely with engineers and designers. Growth and monetization especially, or product marketing at a company worth being loud about. kaegandonnelly@gmail.com

Case studies

The voiceover rebuildLumen5's signature format of text-on-media videos was starting to feel passé. I led a rebuild around AI voiceovers, resulting in paid plan purchases increasing 40% compared to text-only videos.Read it →Freemium to EnterpriseWe had to figure out how to transform a playful, freemium company into one that could sell to KPMG. That means tight brand controls, Enterprise table stakes, and a whole new go-to-market engine. Five years of strong double-digit growth followed the move.Read it →Pricing & monetizationI architected two credit systems, paywalls, and free limits. I owned it end to end, from the margin math under AI features to the A/B tests that drove better conversions and more revenue.Read it →Product marketing, from zeroLanding pages and launch emails started as a team of one, then I moved to a player-coach role once we grew out our marketing team.Read it →

What I've been building

hired.runMy job-search pipeline, open-sourced as a Claude plugin. It's designed to find high-fit roles so you can spend more time on fewer applications. It reads your inbox, scores each role against a rubric you write, and keeps a Notion board current. 1,200+ roles have been triaged on my own board.Read it →Mind the GapEvery Metro Vancouver neighbourhood scored by how badly transit underserves it. 3,590 areas, 67,000 residents in the gaps, shipped solo in a few days at mindthegap.fyi. If you didn't gather from the transit map-themed portfolio, I'm a bit of a transit nerd. I even studied Human Geography and had intended to become a city planner originally!Read it →

The route here

Apple

2010–2013 · Genius

In-person support and repair at the Genius Bar. I became Canada's first dedicated iPhone technician within three months, and later Canada's first part-time Genius.

Hootsuite

2013–2014 · Lead Customer Advocate

I had the highest daily response volume and satisfaction scores on the team. I was promoted to lead within nine months.

Baremetrics

2014–2018 · Customer Success & Marketing

If you were an indie founder in the mid-2010s building on Stripe, you probably used Baremetrics. I built the entire customer success infrastructure and curriculum from scratch: a self-serve learning portal, automated onboarding emails, educational videos, and hands-on training sessions for founders.

Lumen5

2018–2026 · CS → PM → Senior PM → Head of Product

I joined as employee 9, a jack-of-all-trades business hire, and moved into product as we scaled. I helped lead a voiceover rebuild, the Enterprise pivot, and self-serve monetization end to end, and owned product marketing in every era along the way. Head of Product at a company this size meant 60-70% of my time on day-to-day PM work (I always PM'd at least one or two teams), and the rest on strategy and managing a few PMs and product designers, two of whom I helped grow from intermediate to senior.

I never stopped doing IC work: I owned a core team's roadmap and backlog throughout, writing user stories, defining acceptance criteria, and staying close to the details of what shipped. In product I covered a lot of range: running a two-person growth squad, PMing up to two teams at once, and validating new ideas on my own or with a single developer.
